Debbie’s Thoughts

I’ve been a nurse for 36 years. Much of my experience is in case management and discharge planning. During my years of service in the health care field, I’ve seen many people with no choice but to remain in a long term care facility because either they had no assistance at home, or their children led such hectic lives they did not have the time to help with their parents’ care. Yet the facts show that people do better when cared for in their own homes versus that of a facility. This presents a dilemma because we can all see that as people age or become ill, they may need assistance with the activities of daily living they can no longer do.

That’s why I decided in February 2010 to start my New Jersey company, Independence at Home Services, LLC. I am passionate about my goal to make living life more comfortable for the elderly and the infirm by helping them remain at home for as long as they can. People are living longer and have worked very hard to establish their homes. If Independence at Home Services can help them remain in their homes, then I have accomplished my goal.

We do this in part by employing very qualified companions who have all passed extensive background checks as well as reference checks. Our companions provide in home care not only for the elderly, but also for anyone age 15 and up that needs assistance with the daily activities of life due to a disability, an accident, illness or other cause. Like me, our caregivers are passionate about making a difference in someone’s life. Independence At Home Services does not exist only to offer assisted living services, although we excel at that, but to become involved in people’s lives by teaching them a new hobby or skill, by listening to their life experiences, or by participating with them in their favorite hobbies. For some people, we are their only contact, so I passionately strive to live up to our motto of “Providing Assistance for Living Life.”

You’ll notice that Independence At Home Services is more than your typical assisted living company. Much more. I’ve added many unique services that other companies don’t offer. You see, during my career in case management, time and again I noticed the same obstacles cropping up that made it difficult to get someone home from a facility or for someone to maintain independent living—and no one was addressing those needs. We truly can help you get through a difficult time in your life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help people with medical, surgical or personal needs maintain their independence by assisting with the daily tasks they are having difficulty with. Just because people become ill, disabled or limited in their abilities doesn’t mean they have to leave their home. We come to you, because home is where you belong.

Remember that at Independence At Home Services, LLC, our goal is to help people remain in their New Jersey homes whenever possible with our independent living services. Time and again we have seen this option boost people’s self-confidence by allowing them to remain active with their family, friends and hobbies.
