Why should we use Independence at Home Services, LLC. rather than hiring someone privately?
The caregivers of Independence at Home Services, LLC. are screened, trained, bonded and insured. Using an in home care company relieves you of the responsibility and liability of the care giver.
What are the benefits of home care over an assisted living facility or long term care facility?
The mission of Independence at Home Services is to help people with needs to continue their independent living for as long as possible in their home while keeping a sense of independence.
Can services be provided other than in a person’s home?
Yes, we can provide caregivers in all types of facilities including hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living facilities and even vacation sites.
What is the difference between Home Care and Home Healthcare?
Home care refers to non-medical care such as companionship / homemaking services or personal care services. Home healthcare refers to providing skilled nursing care and medical assistance such as speech, physical or occupational therapy.
How do you select our caregiver?
During the assessment, our Care Managers will be gathering the information necessary to make a quality staffing decision.
What happens if we don’t get along with the care giver?
If you are not happy with the caregiver, they will be replaced. The matching process will continue until you are comfortable.
How are Caregivers Hired?
Potential caregivers must successfully complete a personal and professional reference check, a criminal history background check which is done by a background screening company, verification of legal documents, driving record check and a drug screen. All of our caregivers are bonded and insured.
Who pays the caregiver?
Independence at Home Services, LLC. pay’s the caregiver. No money is to be paid directly from the client to the caregiver.
What are we required to provide the caregiver?
Live in care givers need to have a private room for sleeping and personal time. It is your responsibility to provide food for the care giver within limitation. Internet is the usual way they stay in contact with their world. If there is not internet service in the home the cost can be paid for by the live in through payroll deduction. Hourly care givers are encouraged to bring their own food, however that is your personal preference on whether you want to provide them with meals.
What happens if the caregiver is sick?
If your caregiver is sick, another caregiver will be available to fill in.
Will we have the same caregiver?
Yes once we assign a care giver to your case it does not change. There usually are two care givers for each case. One care giver for the weekdays and one for the weekends.
What happens if the care giver doesn’t show or needs vacation?
Independence at Home Services provides all coverage whether it’s an emergency or a time off request.
How are the caregivers monitored?
Each case is monitored by a case manager. Weekly visits are made to all clients.
How do the care givers know what to do when they come?
The case manager develops an individualized plan of care for each client and a copy will be in the home for reference at all times.
Do you have any client age restrictions?
Independence at Home services, LLC cares for any one in need of assistance from age 15 and up.
Can you transport people to a doctor's office or other places?
We can transport clients to a doctor’s visit, shopping, dining, or other activities as long as a vehicle is provided. We cannot transport clients in our own cars.
Is there a minimum number of hours for in home care?
We have a minimum of four hours with no restrictions on number of days.
What are your rates?
There are hourly rates and live in rates. The rates will be determined based on the level of care.
Is there a deposit required?
Yes, Independence at Home Services, LLC requires the first week payment prior to the start of care as well as a one week deposit. There is also a one-time start of care fee of $75.00.
What hours is the office opened?
Someone is available 24/7 to answer all calls.
How quickly can services be provided?
We do our very best to conduct the initial consult as soon as possible. We strive to begin care within 48 hours.
How do I start services?
Contact our office at 973-764-9430. Our case manager will meet with you at your convenience and conduct a free assessment.
Who pays for this service?
Non-medical home care is not a covered benefit under Medicare or private insurances. If you have long term care insurance they may provide coverage for this service. The case manager will help you file the claim for long term care.
Can I stop services?
Yes, we prefer a week’s notice prior to terminating services.
