Ruth & I are very pleased with the many fine services that Independence at Home Services provided to our friend Linda during her final weeks of life and provided to us after her death. We had to replace another home health aide service whose policies were not customer-friendly and whose staff were uncooperative, unreliable, unresponsive and expensive. We found Independence at Home Services to be the exact opposite of the first company with whom we had a contract.

Independence at Home Services is very customer-friendly, providing interviews of potential caregivers, answering all questions, requests and needs professionally and in a timely manner and taking the initiative whenever the staff realized our friend Linda needed care we were not yet aware of. Independence at Home Services cooperated with us as overseers, were always reliable and responded properly to every situation. Their staff was compassionate, patient and understanding of Linda’s illness and resulting impairments even though she was often angry and anxious (Linda was declining physically, very weak on her right side and unable to speak or write due to a brain tumor).

Their staff helped Linda in her final weeks to stay in her home, to be comfortable and to have the dignity Linda wanted --- all well beyond what we expected or hoped would be possible. Independence at Home Services worked very well with the hospice staff so that we needed to be involved with hospice to a minimal degree; and the Independence at Home Services case manager was with us when the hospice nurse pronounced our friend’s demise. During the several weeks following Linda’s death, Independence at Home Services continued to provide practical advice and much logistical help to us.

They took over much of the burden we otherwise would have had to deal with ourselves. Their staff removed from Linda’s home junk, items that were donated and items that were given to beneficiaries; they appraised items that required a value for estate purposes; and they arranged consignment and internet sale of other items. They professionally cleaned Linda’s home from top to bottom; they removed window fixtures; they made minor repairs; and they professionally cleaned the carpets.

We so much appreciate what Independence at Home Services did for Linda and for us; the fees were very reasonable (and much lower than what we had been paying for the poor service we had first contracted for) and the case manager suggested alternatives which saved much of the cost; they could not have been better; they provided more than what we needed and served us well above our expectations; Ruth & I highly recommend Independence at Home Services!!!

I was told on the December 29th I had to go home on December 31st. I had no idea what to do; my daughter was referred to Independence At Home Services and everything was taken care of. I went home on New Year's day and they got all my medication, diabetic supplies, food and everything I needed together. My care giver was very knowledgeable and attentive. I learned how to manage my diabetes with their help, and would never had made it through this without them. I had a nurse to connect with 24 hours a day for any questions and every week she came to visit. I am now living on my own but I still talk to the nurse everyday to make sure I'm doing things right. I cannot say enough about their services, and it was a wonderful experience during a difficult time.

I had a private care giver for my husband but when he was discharged from the rehab center I was referred to this company for the bathroom adaptations he needed. They came and put up safety bars, removed shower doors, changed out the shower head and made some safety suggestions to my husband and care giver.
